On this site you will be able to vote for the football player of the year and to give your opinion about football: players, clubs,.. and you. Enjoy and share with your friends!

We are a group of scientists with two centers of interest. Football: we want to learn about football fans (who they are, what do they think…) and voting: we are interested in testing new forms of elections, in various contexts including football.

This site is open to everyone; all football fans can give their opinion. You can vote until December 13, 2016.

Voting systems

One name voting

Under this system you vote for one and only one candidate. The candidate with the most vote wins.

This simple system is used for political elections in England, India or the USA.

Point voting

Under this system you choose three candidates and give 5 points to your first choice, 3 points to your second choice and 1 point to your third choice. The candidate that receives the most total points is elected.

This system is the one used for the official election of the Ballon d’Or.

Approval voting

Under this system you vote for as many candidates you wish to support to be elected the winner. The candidate with the most votes wins.

This system is a novel system that we want to experiment with you.

We appreciate your participation to the VoteFoot 2016 survey. In the following section, you will be invited to cast votes as you would do for electing the player of the year. You will use three different voting rules: One name voting, Point voting, and Approval voting. After your votes, you will have the possibility to answer a short questionnaire about you and football. All in all this should take you 10 to 20 minutes. You can always chose not to answer any question. The survey is open, voluntary, and all your answers are completely anonymous. (See our Privacy policy)

Your participation today will help us understand how voters cast their votes under different electoral systems and what you think about football.

Thanks for your participation.
